At St. Aubin, the sugar estate plantation house was extensively restored from the replacement of the timber shingles on the roof to the timber boarding of the walls and floors. The floor of the verandah in white marble and local basalt stone, as well as the balustrading, are both new, but they respect the spirit of the old. The house was opened to the public with a new restaurant and kitchen. The old bones of the structure regains a second life.
