Klondike
Flic en Flac, Mauritius
1988-1990

The Klondike hotel at Flic en Flac reinforces the traditional architecture of Mauritius with which the tourist can identify. Large pergolas and open covered spaces provide shade and natural ventilation emphasizing external living. The public areas and back of house amenities are designed to cope with future bedroom extensions.  Phase 1 includes 32 bedrooms.

Every bedroom has a generous verandah overlooking the sea extending the bedroom space externally and bettering the usual hotel bedroom balcony.  Because of its elevated site with no beach, the pool is designed with a ‘beach’ entry and an infinity edge which marries the pool with the sea. This gives the appearance of bringing in the sea right in front of the restaurant.
