House at River Walk

The house is on a site set within large indigenous camphor trees which are over 200 years old.  It uses the lie of the land sitting the verandah in front of the rolling lawn.  Steps lead onto it in the tradition of the houses of Mauritius, which had a base and where floors were raised on a base.

The house is single storey with a high pitched roof enabling a mezzanine.  The verandah is on the central axis of the symmetrical plan.
