Five Villas at Petite Case Noyale
Mauritius
2000

5 Villas on a slopping site on the West coast of Mauritius are planned in a communal site. The villas are on two levels using the slope of the land. The bedrooms and bathrooms facing the view are downstairs whilst the living areas are on the upper level with a back entry. The spaces are generous and open up to allow maximum air flow and increase the sense of space. The stonework on the ground floor is sloping to form a ramped base for the lighter pergola to sit on. The swimming pool has windows to the bedroom corridor below giving diffused light through water. ‘Flamboyant’ trees which flower once a year giving red bulbs are planted to reinforce the existing garden and the pergolas are covered with bougainvillea celebrating the colourful plants of the tropics.
