Domaine du Chasseur
Anse Jonchee, Mauritius

The Domaine du Chasseur is a boutique hotel perched on the slopes of a mountain in a deer park and a bird sanctuary. The place promotes the preservation of the endangered bird the “Crecerelle”, the smallest bird of prey on the planet which is also indigenous to Mauritius. In a spirit of small scaled buildings, a series of luxury suites were planned to be placed on the highest slopes and steepest parts of the mountain. They were built on stilts to enable construction to nestle at any level and sit into the existing vegetation with minimal impact on the woods.
