Cathedral Square
Port Louis, Mauritius
1993

The frontage of the site faces Cathedral Square, a major square in the city of Port Louis.  The square is on the central axis of Port Louis which runs from seafront through the city to the mountains. Neighbouring the site lay the 2-storey Law Courts with their barrel vaulted roofs.  In a contextual response, the architecture of the proposed building makes direct references to these existing elements, in plan, scale and shape.
